4 years in the making, and a new book by Tristan Eaton entitled “The 3D Art Book” is now available. Coming in at 224 pages with a forward by Carlo McCormick. “Over 100 of the world’s most esteemed young contemporary artists and designers in a medium they’ve previously not explored-retro 3D. Many of the pieces, by artists respected within the illustration, designer toy, street art, Pop Surrealist, graffiti and graphic design communities, were created specifically for this project. The included works range from otherworldly paintings by Eric White, Ron English and James Jean, to graffiti pieces by DR REVOLT, STASH and HAZE, intricate designs by Tokidoki, 10Deep and Mishka NYC, cartoonish characters by DALEK, Jon Burgerman, Miss Van and Gary Baseman, as well as pieces by D*Face, Todd Schorr and Shepard Fairey. Each image is presented in a double-page spread, and comes jumping to life when viewed with 3D glasses. Eaton’s introduction documents his personal history as an appreciator and creator of 3D art, while an essay by cultural critic Carlo McCormick provides a brief account of the history of images in the third dimension, focusing on stereoscopic 3D’s rise to pop prominence in 1950s America.”
